🚴‍♀️ The Inaugural Raven Pedallers Ride 🚴

Get your lycra on, dust off the bike, check your tyres, the first ride of the Raven Pedallers will take place on Sat 11th November, starting at 10am from the Raven....

Weather looking OK so far....

From the Raven we'll head up to the Greyhound roundabout and hang a left down the East Lancs cycle path.  This will take us all the way to Carr Mill Dam.  We'll cross over and take path behind the dam, picking up the trail that will lead us back to Newton.  At Newton we'll get on the Sankey trail and head along the St Helens canal to the Sankey Valley Trail.  Touching the trail for about half a mile we'll head up behind B+Q at Warrington and up through Winnick to Croft, fly through Culcheth and back to the Raven for a couple of drinks of whatever takes your pleasure and some well earned scoff.

The route is about 26 miles so not a long one.  It's around 50/50 tarmac and track.  Road bikes will probably manage fine but not on slicks given it may be a tad muddy and slippy.  There's no major climbs.

If people are feeling a bit more energetic we can re-route at the B+Q split on the Sankey trail and carry on through Sankey Valley Park, picking up the Trans Pennine Trail at Sankey Bridges and heading by Latchford Locks to the Granges.  Through the paths and back through Croft to Culcheth then to the Raven.  This route adds about another 10 miles but mostly flat.

Given the weather we've had recently this has a high probability of being a little muddy.

Possible pub stops at the Swan (route 1 - Winnick) or The Maltings (route 1 alternative - Old Hall).

GPX files available for both routes.

Ride will suit Gravel, Hybrid, Mountain and Road Bikes (at a push with non-slick and wider tyres), no need to mention e-bikes, they can get anywhere.
