🚴‍♀️ Raven Ride - 2 🚴

Going ahead as planned, it might be a damp one though (40% chance of 🌧)!

It's been quite a while since the last one so this one is a little shorter at 13.5 miles.  Ride contains a lot of track/rough roads so skinny wheels not recommended.  It will suit gravel/MTB/anything with wider tyres and suspension if you want more comfort.  As usual electric bikes welcome, start and finish at the Raven. The ride should take around 60-90 minutes.  Ride planned for Saturday - 02.03.2024 (weather permitting).

This ride tries to avoid busy roads as much as possible but, as mentioned in the intro, there is quite a bit of bumpy stuff as some of the roads are not well maintained.  There's only one small climb and that's over the M62 at Glazebrook.  We will be touching a main road but we're not on it for long, this is definitely a scenic route and we may have to duck under a barrier for the road near the motorcross track - or head up to the canal at the boat house for a short ride to the bridge on the East Lancs and cut through on the track to the bike path on the Lancs.

This is a lot shorter than the last one and will suit gravel, mountain bike, wider tyres (suspension if you need to be bumkind).

Electric bikes welcome.  Helmets strongly recommended.

It's a scenic route as we're cutting through farm roads and possibly a bit of canal path.

Ride planned for Sat - 02.03.2024 - meeting at the Raven at 11am. (it's a shorter one so won't be as long as last time 😀)

small ride map

Out from The Raven to the high school, left at the roundabout and down through to Glazebrook.  A little after the motorway bridge it'll be a left onto roads that will take us through the farms to Lower Irlam where we twist through a few roads and a little way up Liverpool Road till we double back on track/road, crossing the railway and up to The Old Boathouse.  We can either duck through the barriers and come down the road near the motocross track or up to the canal near the pub and a few hundred metres down the canal path.  Cutting back to the road we get on the East Lancs bike path and head down to the roundabout, left and back to the Raven.

There is not of climbing in this one.

climb profile

This ride will suit all levels of fitness, it's not a race and, if the weather is good, quite scenic.  Younger riders welcome to join as we're not on the road for too long.

I might even stand a chance of convincing my wife to do it 😀

We carry a few spares and tools on every ride with spare inner tubes but these are mainly for standard wheel sizes. 27.5, 29, 700c and 650b along with puncture kits and pumps. If you have an odd wheel size it is advisable to bring along a spare tube to 2.

The ride should take between 60 - 90 minutes.
